The Primary Analysis of Tuberaria

Tuberaria is a genus of 27 species of flowering plants in the family Cistaceae. It is native to western and southern Europe where they are produced in dry, rocky places, often near the sea.

Description

The leaves are in a basal rosette of the plant and then facing pairs on the stem, are simple, oval, 2-5 cm long and 1-2 cm wide. The flowers are 2-5 cm in diameter with five petals, yellow with a red spot at the base of each petal, the red spot acts as a 'target' for pollinating insects.

Tuberaria species used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including Coleophora.
