Epipactis greuteri

The Elleborina of Greuter (Greuter scientific name Epipactis H. Baumann & Kunkel, 1981) is a small herbaceous perennial plant with delicate flowers in the family Orchidaceae.

Description

It is a perennial herbaceous plant from 20 to 60 cm. The organic form of this orchid is rhizomatous geophytes (G rizh), which is a plant with a particular underground stems, called rhizomes, which annually is regenerated with new adventitious roots and stems.

These plants, unlike other kinds of orchids, are "epiphytes", ie not living at the expense of other plants of major proportions (ie have its own rhizome).

Roots

The roots are from secondary rhizome.

Leaves

The leaves, whole and thickly toothed edges, are distributed along the stem with more or less spiral. Basal ones are almost orbicular, the intermediate is close to lanceolate, while the upper type bratteiforme and folded down.

Are sessile, just amplessicauli.
The plate is covered by several longitudinal ribs (leaf type parallelinervie).

Inflorescence

The inflorescence is a raceme terminal, alas with pendulous flowers (up to 30 flowers) and pedicel (pedicel than the other orchids is very long). At the base of the pedicel is a pendant lanceolate bract longer than the flower. The flowers are resupinati, turned upside down by twisting of the pedicel. Inflorescence length: 20 cm.

Flower

The flowers are hermaphrodite and zygomorphic irregularly, pentacyclic (perigonium to 2 whorls of tepals, two whorls of stamens, a whorl of the stylus). The flowers are colored in green-white with light purple hues. Size of flower: 12-18 mm.
